There are things we want to do and things we don't. There are common excuses that people use every day. These are the excuses we use to justify our actions and ideas. These excuses are what get us avoiding painful tasks in our every day life.

1. "I can skip the gym today because I went yesterday."

I worked out yesterday so, therefore today is my day off. That hour-long workout yesterday can count for two days, right? I can't work out every day, otherwise, I will be sore.

2. "I worked out today... So I can eat this super unhealthy food."

I went to the gym so I can eat whatever I want. Chewing definitely burns calories so it's all fine, right? Plus, breathing and blinking burn calories so I should be good.

3. "It's not due for a couple days so I can start it tomorrow."

I've got plenty of time. I've heard you work better under pressure anyway. So why not start it later? Due tomorrow, do tomorrow.

4. "I've studied already for multiple hours so it's not studying anymore is going to help me."

How much more can one study? I already studied for what seems like ten hours. If it doesn't click now, it's not magically going to click in an hour. I think I'm good for the night.

5. "It's just too far."

I don't have a car and it would just take too much time out of my day to walk, sorry! Wish I could exert the energy to get there, but I just can't. Maybe next time!

6. "Ugh, my parents won't let me."

This is the best excuse for when you get invited to something you really don't want to attend. The only time it doesn't work is when the person knows your parents well enough to call you out on it.

7. "Well... I put in my best effort."

To be used anytime something doesn't go as planned. Hey, at least I tried. I put in some effort. Also "Grey's Anatomy" was on...I have priorities.

8. When someone asks why you didn't respond to their text message... "I fell asleep," "I was driving," "I didn't hear it," etc.

For when you don't respond to a message or text or miss a phone call. Sorry I was napping. Sorry I was sleeping. Or sorry my phone was on silent. Or maybe, I just don't want to talk to you. Take your pick.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
