Enjoy your fall weather and pumpkin spice lattes while you can because after PSL season is cold and flu season. I'll skip over the whole cover your cough and wash your hands lecture because we have heard it since preschool.

For some, you have grown up getting the influenza vaccine every year like me. Others hate shots and believe that they are above the flu shot. I won't tell you how to live your life. Instead, I will just give you a couple reasons why you would NOT need to get a flu shot this season:

1. Shots hurt.

Tattoos and piercings... no big deal. It is so much better to have a needle go all the way through your flesh and out the other side of your body for a piercing, but flu shots that only go barely into the muscle of your arm are just a no-go. Having a needle repeatedly puncture your skin to inject ink over and over for hours is just a walk in the park compared to getting one annual flu shot.

2. Only around 3 million people get the flu every year in the US alone.

That's only like more people than I can count.

3. If you have good luck, you probably have less of a chance of getting the flu.

4. The flu is only classified as a very common disease so why prevent yourself from getting it.

5. You are excused from class if you have the flu.

For like two weeks actually. No one wants to go to class anyways.

6. If you get the flu, you get to be bedridden for two weeks.

I don't know about you, but my bed is so comfy.

7. As long as you have great friends with nothing else to do, you have someone to take care of you when you get the flu.

The flu just makes you a weak and helpless person temporarily.

8. The flu gives you a chance to get way behind on all your school work without going through the trouble of procrastinating.

9. Feeling like death for what feels like ever with the flu gives you a great new outlook on life.

10. Only 31.8% of adults ages 18-49 got the flu vaccine last year.

I guess it just isn't mainstream enough for everyone to get it yet.

11. Some insurance covers the cost but some still require a copay.

But it is not like the medicine to treat the flu is crazy expensive. Oh, wait...

12. The flu is only contagious from physical touch...

13. ... and from respiratory droplets from coughs or sneezes...

14. ... also flu germs can live and still be contagious on a surface for 24 hours...

15. ... So it is only contagious in every way possible

Not a big deal.

16. There is no detox like losing all your strength and appetite and then having to struggle to find the will to get up and go to the restroom for days.

17. Only about 4,605 people die from the flu every year.

That is just the size of a small town.

18. You get the privilege of spending weeks catching up on school work after recovering from the flu.

19. Actually, screw catching up on your work.

After recovering from the flu you'll have a legitimate excuse to fail all your classes.

20. Think about all the gas money you'll save by being quarantined at home with the flu for two weeks.

Gas prices are too expensive right now anyways.

21. You do not want to be selfish.

Flu shots only benefit you and your well being. why would anyone want to do something for themselves?

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
