As I enter my second month as a Syracuse University students, I have made friends in classes, clubs, organizations/publications I am involved with, my floor and through "friends of friends." However, despite all of the relationships I've formed, the most important of them are the ones I've made with my floormates.
From EDM blasting in the hallway, to studying by the elevator eating snacks to hanging out at my friends Maia and Emily's dorm watching Netflix and eating popcorn until the early morning, the laughs and memories I've shared with my floormates have been amazing. I couldn't imagine living with anybody else.
Your floormates will be your main source of support, besides your family back home. I know if I ever had a problem with something, whether academic or personal, or if I needed anything (food, toothbrush, air mattress, whatevs), I could share it with them and get their advice, honesty and loyalty. In fact, I don't even have to knock anymore, and just come on in whenever and feel welcome (I do this a lot).
Study buddies and homework are literally two steps away. My floor is filled with majors from Broadcast Journalism to Anthropology to Biochemestry. Their different perspectives and styles of studying are something everyone can benefit from.
In addition, they also serve as the ultimate fashion police and, combined, the biggest source of all the clothing, shoes and accessories you'll ever need. On my floor, the girls are constantly going to each other for outfit advice, getting ready for parties together, and, of course, borrowing clothing from each other on a constant basis.
Overall, there is nobody else I'd rather spend my freshman year with. My floormates have quickly become my best friends and they have created a comfortable, welcoming living environment where all of us can have fun with each other and goof around, 24/7 (literally).
~Shoutout to the Boland 7 girls and guys for being the best friends ever!~
