To thrive or not to thrive?

How FloCo Residents Can Survive FloCo Courtyard

Living on the FloCo Courtyard can be super swaggy or super difficult. If it happens to be a game day and the courtyard is bumpin', that can be great. However, if it happens to be Game Day and you have to work and the courtyard is bumpin', it can be real annoying. Here is a thorough list for FloCo residents on how to survive the FloCo Courtyard regardless of the situation on game days.

1. Lock your door

This is 110 percent necessary if you’re trying to do something that doesn’t involve hanging out with freshmen in Welcome Week outfits. They will definitely walk through your door at some point if you keep it open, and if you’re studying or trying to do something productive, that probably isn’t going to go well.

2. If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em

If you’ve tried locking your door and that hasn’t worked, then joining the courtyard festivities is really your only option. Sitting in your apartment trying to deny the fact that people are having a great time outside isn’t going to get you anywhere, so you might as well get over it and join the fun.

3. Utilize the grill

That grill, though. Who needs to bake food now that you can now grill it?! Make sure you actually get to the grill at a decent hour, because otherwise someone else will take it and then you won’t get to make your grub. Also, make sure you know how to work the grill, because FloCo residents really don’t need an explosion happening.

4. Hit up the lawn chairs

If it’s nice out on a Saturday and there doesn’t happen to be a Game Day, enjoy some nice alone time and bronze yourself. Remember to put some sunscreen on so you don’t get skin cancer, and you’ll have a great time.

5. Find a new study location

Moving into the courtyard is basically your cue to stop trying to study at your apartment. Hit up the library, Purple Onion, or The Bridges' study rooms to ensure you actually pass your classes.

6. Befriend the management

This friendship will last you a lifetime and will also help score you some free FloCo apparel or some extra friends in the courtyard on Game Day. I mean, whatever helps you get extra FloCo wristbands.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
