Flaws are proof of unique qualities.

The Misconception Of Flaws

My last few articles have had a bit of a pattern. They have been based on flaws and imperfections.

Now, we all have imperfections. That's just fact. We are misled by public opinion to believe that there is only one way to feel beautiful in our own skin.

This all comes from the inside out. The very idea of truly embracing yourself takes time on its own. As you're traveling on this road, you'll begin to realize that you're truly one of a kind. Being different is a great thing, but you don't know until you go down this road.

The real reason why we should embrace our imperfections is that it is something that sets us apart from everyone else. Instead of being identical, we are different than the next person.

We grow to falsely believe that imperfections are a bad thing. They are a good thing because it's life's way of showing that we're human. We're perfect because we're particular, no people are truly alike. We have different looks, styles, and personalities.

There's always been a theory of trying to fit in. This theory was revised to say, "Why to fit in when you can stand out?". Apparently, there's something to be different that isn't so bad after all. Being unique is the new trend. There's something there, trust me.

Like anything in life, you need time to see these things. We're always in our own head. We only know how things look to us. You never really know how you're thought of by others unless you're told.

When it comes to these things, you have a choice. Your choices and feelings about yourself are valid. You can gather all the opinions you want, but only your opinion is the one that matters most. It helps to get a second opinion, but you know how you feel.

Something you will realize in time is that it was meant to be. This "imperfection" is there for a reason, it's part of you. There's no use in denying what makes you, you.

We actually get crazy enough sometimes to think that we should fix ourselves to meet society's standard of perfection. Keep in mind, perfection is an infinite amount of combinations. One person perfect isn't the same as someone else's. You are perfect because you're you, no matter what anyone says.

What possesses us to do crazy things like this? Society. We try to live up to an impossible norm. These people are perfect, but they are on a whole other level. Society grabs onto what it believes to be perfect, which is turned into popular opinion and results in everyday people trying to become that. Don't become that. That person is already "that". You are you. That's effortless.

You are a unique, different, and marvelous creation. Don't conform to popular opinion. You have your own mind and your own feelings. You're already equipped. Embrace yourself, and don't change a thing. It was meant to be, so let it be.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
