Five Ways To Get Through The Rest Of The Semester

You can do it!

Five Ways To Get Through The Rest Of The Semester

Coming back to school after thanksgiving break has to be one of the hardest things to do. After spending a week at home with your family, eating good food, and sleeping in your bed, you are now forced to come back to your dorm just to suffer through the last two weeks of classes and then finals. How exhausting.

And to add on to it, you have a million assignments to hand in before the semester ends and 50 finals to take as well. Like seriously who invented this?

I was sitting in class today and I couldn't even bring myself to take any notes! My hand refused to write and my eyes were ready for a nap, not Psychology 101.

So I decided to think of a couple ways to get through the rest of the semester aka the two/three most painful weeks of the semester:

1. ONLINE SHOPPING

I personally am addicted to shopping online. I mean I can order basically anything from my bed at 3 am... like that's wild.

I know what you're thinking, won't that distract me from my studies?

yeah, a little bit but only for about an hour. Buy your dad his Star Wars tie for Christmas and your mom her new coffee mug, and then move on and do an assignment.

Maybe even treat yourself!

2. Make a countdown!

I have a countdown app on my phone with at least 4 different countdowns going at once. Make one to Christmas break! Write it on your whiteboard! Every morning, when you wake up, edit how many days until you go home! It's a fun way to watch the days fly by as you finish up the semester!

3. Decorate your dorm!

As soon as I walked into my dorm on Sunday night, I saw tons and tons of Christmas lights covering the walls of my common room! It was so exciting! We have a Christmas tree and garland, we even have a glade scent-y thing that smells like a real Christmas tree! Now every time I come home, it even smells like Christmas!

4. Celebrate with your friends!

Make something to look forward to! My suitemates and I are doing secret Santa and Friday night this week we are all going to make Christmas snacks and watch ELF together. It's a great way to look forward to something at the end of the week and take your mind off of home.

5. Study Study Study

Don't forget that grades are important! Build up your excitement and use it as motivation to study study study. Times flies when you're concentrated! Plus, think of how happy your parents will be when you get an A on that big final ;)

In the end remember, it'll fly by and you'll be home and wishing you were back before you know it!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
