5 Things About Your New UMM Editor-In-Chief
Tim Bremer

Hello everyone! I am the new editor-in-chief of the new University of Minnesota Morris branch of the Odyssey. I decided to tell you all a little bit about myself since we're going to be spending so much time together in the future. Here are five things I want you to know about me!

1. I am constantly doing something.

My Google calendar is full, and even when I have space to do something, it is often filled with doing homework or sleeping. I am majoring in English and Theater Arts, and participating in theater shows takes up a lot of my time. I also sing in choir (Alto 1, but also sometimes an Soprano 2), give campus tours to prospective students, dance (both on my own and for Dance Ensemble) and I'm the managing editor for our campus newspaper, The University Register. My days are filled to the brim, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

2. I come from a large family.

I have five younger siblings (the youngest is 6), my parents and my dog. Our house can be chaotic sometimes, but it there is always something going on, and I always had someone to play with when I was a kid. They are all very different people with different ways of living life and even though they drive me nuts, I still love them a lot.

3. I love reading and writing.

Ever since I was little I have loved reading. I read every book I could get my hands on, and if I didn't have so much homework or other activities, I would be reading non-stop. I also love writing, specifically fiction writing. I already said I was an English major, but I also have a creative writing focus to go along with that. I don't know what I want to write yet, but I do know I want to.

4. My friends are some of the most important people in my life.

I have no idea what I would do if I didn't have them in my life. They mean the world to me, and I try to let them know as often as I can how much I appreciate them. They are always there for me when I want to talk or just hang out and watch dumb TV shows.

5. I am so excited to start the UMM chapter of the Odyssey!

I applied for this position on a whim, but I am so excited to bring the Odyssey to UMM. I have been thinking lately about maybe going into a journalism field, so this is a step in that direction. My team of writers is a diverse group of people who will bring many different perspectives to this platform.

Well, there you have it! There is so much more about me that I didn't mention, but it will come as I continue writing for this site. I'm excited to share my world with the rest of the world!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
