5 Stages of Grief : Walking Up The Stairs Edition

We have all been there. That moment before classes when you don't have enough time to grab the elevator. When you have all of your possessions dangling in your hands and the elevator claims "Out of Order". During those few days after the New Year where you are "going to be more active", so you purposefully opt for the staircase.

If these scenarios happen to you often, you have more than likely overcome the 5 Stages of Grief.

1. Denial - "It's not so bad"

The initial pride of actually taking the dreaded stairs masks the pain at first, allowing you to at least make it to the second floor. For those of you only going up one flight you are living the dream, for those of you heading up the 5 floors to Religion class you have a world of emotions approaching you that one has only seen in Inside Out.

2. Anger - "Why in Betty White's name did I decide to do this?

WHO INVENTED THIS NON-MOVING ESCALATOR? WHY DID I DECIDE TO DO THIS TO MY BODY? IS EVERYONE BREATHING THIS HARD??? AM I THIS OUT OF SHAPE? DID SOMEONE UP THE INCLINATION OF THIS?? I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS!!

3. Bargaining - "I can fix this"

This stage hits around floor 3 if we are sticking with the 5 floor model. It is when you actually contemplate with yourself stopping on that current floor, getting on the elevator, and erasing all that has just happened to your cardiovascular system. You bargain with yourself saying that because you did this you will get a significant reward later - such as milkshake from Chik Fil A, Jeni's Ice Cream, not going to the gym later,etc..

4. Depression - "My time has come, please say something nice at my funeral"

It is when your fate has become sealed. It seems as if nothing could be worse than moving your entire leg onto the next step. You contemplate just sitting down and maybe curling up into a ball. *Sarah McLachlan's Angel playing in the background*

5. Acceptance - "I have come this far and I will not make this mistake again"

This is your TIME TO SHINE! Success is so near. Just one more step. You have made it to the end. You are out of breath but you are alive. Life is the freaking climb @miley.

Mental note is made to think next time before you try to get those Fit Bit steps.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
