One of the best things about moving into a new season is the new music that comes with it. Personally, fall is my favorite season and there are certain songs and genres I like to listen to more in the fall than any other time. The music I lean towards has a very light, soulful sound and I think it really fits this time of year. Here are five songs to add to your fall playlist, and hopefully it will open you up to a few new music styles.

1. "Mistakes"- Lake Street Dive

Lake Street Dive is easily one of my favorite bands. The sound they create is very upbeat and soulful and never fails to put me in a good mood. This song, in particular, is always in my head after I listen to it because it is so catchy. The sound and overall rhythm are so easy to fall in love with. It always seems to be on repeat for me.

2. "Sound and Color" - Alabama Shakes

This song has a slow and steady beat that is very calming and enjoyable. I love listening to this during the fall because it has such a warm sound that I am so drawn to. Alabama Shakes is a Rock band that has a lot of upbeat songs, but this one is a little smoother. The voice of the lead singer is so unique and that aspect really shows in this song.

3. "Blue Skies" - Noah and the Whale

The sound of this song is a little different from what I usually listen to, but the overall style is so nice and easy to unwind to. The thing I love most about this song is the lyrics. They are uplifting and gentle, which makes it so easy and appealing to listen to. I discovered this song in the fall a couple years ago and it always seems to make its way back around in my playlist each year.

4. "Upside Down" - Goldford

I cannot say enough good things about the sound of this artist’s voice. The mood this song creates is perfect for the fall, but could also be enjoyed any time of the year. The beat is very slow and steady but the lyrics and vocal style of the artist will definitely keep you intrigued.

5. "Old Pine" - Ben Howard

This is an essential song to have on any fall playlist. The sound has an easy folk sound that is so beautiful and calming. Ben Howard is such a unique artist who writes very vivid lyrics. This song embodies that at such a high level. It is descriptive in nature and very small details, but also has a very simple chorus that is hard to get out of your head.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
