Five Signs Your A Dog Parent

Dogs are man's best friend. Dogs are loyal, sweet, intelligent, friendly and loving. I've had my puppy for a little over a year now and she is my best friend. She's the thing I miss most at college and I can't wait to see her in a few weeks. My dog is my baby. Almost every dog owner can agree; your dog is like your child. Your dog becomes a part of your family and you would not trade them in for the world. You love your dog unconditionally and they love you the same way back. Sometimes having a dog can be even better than having kids! Here is five signs that you're a dog mom or dad.

1) You buy your dog toys and treats more than you buy yourself things.

Going to Petco, PetSmart, etc. is always an adventure. "What toy will my puppy like? Should I get her two in case she doesn't like one? What kind of treat will she like? Should I try a new treat for her?" You shop more for dog than you do for yourself, and you don't regret it at all. You even get them toys to go along with the season. Spoiling your dog is okay. Every dog deserves to be treated like a king or queen.

2) You dress your dog up for various holidays.

I dress my dog up for Halloween, Christmas and every other holiday. She hates it, but she looks so cute. What's cuter than a wiener dog dressed up as a hotdog? It's so much fun buying outfits for your dog and they look so cute in them. Having a trendy dog is having the best dog.

3) You take loads of pictures of your dog.

You probably take more pictures of your dog than of your friends and family. You may even have a whole album on Facebook dedicated to your pup. You can never have enough pictures of your four legged friend. Most of my Instagram pictures feature my dog and the majority of my albums on Facebook have my dog in them. I also feel guilty whenever I delete a picture of my dog and my heart breaks a little.

4) You FaceTime your dog.

Anytime you're away and you FaceTime someone at home, it's a must that you see your dog. You talk to them and get overly excited when they turn and face the screen.

5) You thought about your dog while reading this article.

Having a puppy or dog is one of the best things in life. They are always there for you and can always lend a listening ear. I don't know how I lived without my dog and I cannot picture my life without her. The bond that a dog and parent share is one of the best things in the world and is irreplaceable. One of my favorite quotes is "Don't say I'm not a mom just because my baby has four legs and fur." This quote cannot be more true. Your dog truly becomes one of your kids and you are their parent.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
