Five Movies To Take Your Mind Off Of Donald Trump Winning The Election

If you're a liberal like me, then you've been having a pretty bad week. We lost the White House, Republicans will now hold control over all three branches of government, AND WE ELECTED A GODDAMNED REALITY TV STAR TO THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT! Calm yourself, Nolan. Breath in...breath out. Anyways, I think that we're all in the mood for some good, old-fashioned escapism. Here are five movies that you can watch to take your mind off of the election.

#5. Home Alone 2: Lost in New York

It's almost Christmas time. Let the holiday spirit fill your mind while watching Kevin MacCallister set up goofy traps to hit Joe Pesci in the balls. In addition to the beautiful New York setting and wacky hijinks, enjoy hilarious cameos from celebrities like Tim Curry, Rob Schneider,...and Donald Trump. Huh...okay, that movie isn't going to work. Moving on.

#4. You've Got Mail

Yes, America's dad and Meg Ryan in a romantic comedy! Mindless, funny, and heart-warming. Nothing can be wrong with this choice. Watch as two owners of rival bookstores fall in love over email. Y'know, just like the emails that cost Hillary Clinton this election! Why couldn't you just use the government server, for God's sake, Hillary!?! We would have had this in the bag!

So, that movie isn't going to work either.

#3. Ted 2

Alright, a raunchy comedy about a teddy bear. I have to be safe here, right? Nothing like a good dick joke to take my mind off of everything. It even has Tom Brady in it! As a New Englander, I love Tom Brady! How can you not? What, with his insane skill, immense charisma, and his endorsement of Donald Trump for president. Wait, he did that?

Shit... this movie idea isn't going to work. Let's change it up. I enjoy TV. Let's try that! What five TV shows can I recommend to take everyone's mind off of the election?

#5. The West Wing

Nope. I see the flaw in this choice already. What else is there?

Musical theater! I love musicals. That would be some good escapism.

#5. Wicked

Let's watch one of the most famous musicals of all time! There are so many great songs in it, like "Defying Gravity" and "Popular," just like the popular vote that Donald Trump appears to have lost, but still won the election due to the electoral college. WHY!?! WHY IS THIS THE WORLD THAT WE LIVE IN!?! THIS CAN'T BE REAL! I'M GOING TO WAKE UP FROM A COMA DREAM ANY MINUTE NOW!

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?
