Five Mister Rogers Songs To Help You Through A Rough Day

It's been almost two decades since Mister Roger's Neighborhood went off the air, but now more than ever are his lessons needed. The world around us may seem hectic and crazy, but Mister Rogers always knew what to say to calm our nerves. Through his songs he taught us a variety of lessons, like how to process and anger or how to show love, and even today these lessons still prove to be true. These songs help remind us that no matter how bad of a day you've had, Mister Rogers will always be there for you with some words of wisdom.

1.       Won't You Be My Neighbor?

"Hi there, neighbor."

Alexandra Michalski

Mister Rogers would always sing this song as he came in the door and donned his famous array of sweaters, so it's no surprise that this is the first song on the list. With a simple yet honest greeting, Mister Rogers let us know that he excited to call us his neighbor and invite us into his neighborhood full of fun.

What Do You Do With the Mad That You Feel?

It's okay to feel angry sometimes.

Alexandra Michalski

This song helps kids (and adults) process their feelings of anger. He lets us know that we shouldn't invalidate our feelings but accept that we are mad and choose to do something good instead. By choosing to do good actions instead of bad, we can become the best version of ourselves.

Sometimes People Are Good

Not everyone is good all the time.

Alexandra Michalski

No one is perfect 100% of the time, not even Mister Rogers. By acknowledging that good people can be bad sometimes, it helps explain how the world isn't perfectly split between those who are good and those who are bad.

There are Many Ways to Say I Love You

Planting things together is a good way to say I love you.

Alexandra Michalski

We all know that everyone shares their love in different and unique ways and Mister Rogers knows it too. He lists several different ways children can tell important people in their life how to show they love them. This song isn't just for the kids though, Mister Rogers himself states that "As you grow, I trust that you are finding many more ways to show and tell people that you love them. Those are the most important things that you'll ever learn to do." So get out there and spread that love to the important people in your life!

It's Such a Good Feeling

Mister Rogers will always be waiting to welcome you back to the neighborhood.

Alexandra Michalski

Mister Rogers always made sure to end his day with this special song that tells each of us that we're special and unique individuals. On days when it feels like you're alone in the world, Mister Rogers is there telling you that "There's only one person in the whole world exactly like you, and that's you yourself, and people can like you exactly as you are."

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
