Stop sweating the small stuff.

There are some real, worldwide problems that deserve a lot of attention; some examples might include climate change, the economy, nationwide poverty and worldwide starvation. Then there are those problems which are undeserving of our attention; however, too many people worry about them just as much (if not more) than those listed above.

Here are the five most common 21st century "problems" that we should seriously stop stressing over:

1. Reputations

Throughout your life there will be those who love you and those who spread hate about you. Unfortunately, that's the reality of our society. Is it fair? Not necessarily. Is it worth worrying about? Absolutely not. The ones who use hate as a synonym to your name are describing more about themselves than about you and they clearly never heard the saying "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

2. F.O.M.O (Fear of missing out)

I will admit that I am guilty of this myself. When all your friends are hanging out and you have to go to an appointment or family reunion, it seems like your social world is coming down. In reality, your friends miss you just as much as you miss them and whatever they're doing without you doesn't change your friendship! They will most likely tell you every embarrassing or exciting thing you missed therefore making you feel as if you were there anyways.

3. Wealth determining worth

This is one of the most stressed about issues today. Everyone dreams of being a successful career man/woman and, honestly, that is not a bad goal. However, many individuals become absorbed in the idea that the amount in their bank account determines their worth as a person. One's livelihood should not solely rely on money but rather how happy they are each and every day.

4. Online profiles

How often do you check your Instagram photo to see how many "likes" your most recent picture received? How many times do you log onto Twitter to see how many "favorites" your last tweet got? How much do you obsess over how many followers you have? More than likely, these numbers do not change who you are as a person and it's definitely not something to worry over. If you liked the picture or tweet, that's good enough!

5. Being able to access wifi

Again, I'll admit that when I'm at home or a restaurant and the wifi is being slow I do get a little aggravated. I'll also admit it's absurd that I even stress over not having wifi at any given time. The fact we can even access unlimited amounts of internet through our devices is amazing, and it is not the end of the world if we have to wait an extra 30 seconds for something to load.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
