No matter what year you are in when it comes to school. Your first week of classes will always be the hardest. Going into my third year of college I have come to realize it does not get easier. As my first day came around, I only had one class, which was because of the Eclipse. Thank God. But even that day was a rough one. I got to campus late to meet up with my friends, I couldn't find a spot to save my life and it was terribly hot that to the point that I was sweating off my makeup.
The second day actually was worse! I got to school for my first class, it was pouring rain and I was walking around on campus trying to find the building my class was in. Everyone either didn't know where it was or told me the wrong area. As the rain hit harder on my back the more the tears filled up into my eyes. I am a junior and I still can't find my class! Calling my mom bawling my eyes out she calmly says to me "just stop, breathe, and ask for help". So that is exactly what I did. As I collect myself I walk into the PSU and go to the first place I think would help me find my class. Luckily they did! Even though I was ten minutes late to my very first class of junior year, I realized everything was okay and that we all make mistakes.
As the day goes on, I am driving around the commuter lot to find a parking spot. I am driving around for a solid 25 minutes before I can even find a good spot, to end up walking all the way to my class to find out it was canceled! Really? Can this day get any worse? Moral of the story is, that just because you expect every year to get better because you've done it before. It doesn't, it is going to be stressful every year you go through it but it is okay to struggle.
We still have time to learn, we still have time to make mistakes and we always have time to get our lives together. So don't stress if you are late to your class, and definitely, don't start crying in the rain when you can't find your class. Keep a smile on your face and always know it is not just you that has a shitty first week of school.
