It's that time of year again; time for school to begin and college students to move away from home. While some anticipate the move away, this was my first year being away from home so I really wasn't sure what to expect at first. Here's how the first week away from home went, as told by the amazing TV show, "Friends."

1. Hoping your random roommate decision works out well.

Luckily, there weren't any big roommate issues, but that sure didn't stop the worry!

2. Hoping no one eats all your food.

Fortunately, none of us ever had to pull a Joey and make our food intentions clear.

3. Trying to navigate a new town.

Thank goodness for Google Maps.

4. Trying to get used to a new bedroom.

It's not as comfy as home, but hey, as long as I can get some sleep I'm good to go.

5. Making new friends every day is pretty cool.

In this small college town, almost everyone goes to the university and they're all super friendly about everything.

6. Trying to get on a regular gym routine to avoid gaining that extra college weight.

We'll see how long this lasts though.

7. Getting everything ready to take on the next school year.

Textbooks? Check. Class times and buildings? Check. Snacks for class? Double check. Time to take on the year!

8. Realizing you're now officially an adult.

It isn't that hard...yet.

9. Being in a new town and getting to experience new things.

I'm so glad this is where I chose to spend the next few years and I already love the university. My first week away was great and I'm excited to see what else it holds for me here.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
