I Live In LA And I FINALLY Went To The Getty

I was kidnapped into it. Just kidding, but it was amazing.

Even though I live in LA, I'd never visited the Getty until last week. The trip wasn't even planned—I was simply abducted in the middle of class, like....?

I love museums, even though I probably only have been to three museums in my entire life, one of which was in Honduras, my home country. But I really don't remember much of that since I was an annoying brat when I went. (Not that I am not annoying anymore, though.)

However short my visit to the Getty was, I took a lot of pictures there, which I will be showing shortly since I have no idea what else to write in here, because, as usual, I'm doing this at last moment. (God damn midterm season, especially when your season lasts for three weeks...)

Now, I was in the middle of class when my phone began vibrating. I am not supposed to be using my phone in that class, but at least I sit way in the back where nobody could see me. So I, as subtly as possible, tried putting on my earphones in, ducked my head and answered my friend. "I'm at your school," he said.

I panicked, for some reason.

So I hurriedly picked up my stuff, asked my friend if she could send me pictures of the notes later, and I headed out of class to go choke the life out of somebody.

Of course, I didn't kill anybody, if not, I would probably be in jail and not writing this article. (Insert that passive-aggressive smiling emoji here.) And after a while of talking, I ended up in the car, and on my way to the Getty. I guess I can't complain. The museum was wonderful and pretty, more than I ever expected to. My little nerd came out when we entered the section dedicated to Roman mythology, and I saw a sculpture of Mercury. I just began telling my friend everything I had learned in my Mythology class about him.

Now to end my last-minute article, I'm going to add some of the pictures I took, and I hope you enjoy them!

This one looked kind of creepy, but it really called my attention for some reason.

This one was just a bunch of pictures of buildings, and next to it where more pictures of more buildings!

Of course, you can't go anywhere that has a nice view of LA and not take a picture of the city.

I decided to call this one "Railway to Heaven"... Pretty cheesy, huh?

And now, this last one is my favorite. It looks like if it was a painting, but I had taken that one with the Snapchat camera and started playing with the filters and I got this masterpiece:

Amazing, isn't it?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
