So in high school I always looked forward to the first day of school, well that's because I was finally getting to see my friends after a whole summer of not seeing them. In high school (and middle/elementary school) you see all the same people all year long. You might have some hard classes but all in all you are already used to the flow of it.

Well, college is so different. My freshman year I was so excited for the first day of class. I was ready to get in the flow of school and meet new friends and even meet professors. It took a while to get the hang of it and learn how to manage my time because there was no one to really hold me accountable. I quickly realized this was hard. Meeting people is honestly much harder in college. You don't see the same people every day and there really is no chance (unless your class does partner work) to actually talk to people. You might meet someone one day of class and they might never come to that class again.

I just started my sophomore year. This year I was less excited to start classes because well I knew this year was going to be a lot more challenging. I am getting into classes for my major now which is exciting but also means that things will become more difficult. I know I will get into the groove of things this year it just seems like it is going to be stressful on the first day. Also living in an apartment means you honestly have no one to rely on to make sure you are up and leaving for class (when living in a dorm you have a roommate who you can somewhat rely on).

If you are upperclassmen, like me, we need to remember how our first day was as a freshman. We need to remember how stressed we felt when we couldn't find the right building or how to get anywhere, and how nervous we were to ask anyone for help. With this being said, if a freshman or really anyone asks you for directions to anywhere, no matter how your day is going, please help them. This will make their day better and might also make your day better.

If you are a senior in high school, please enjoy the first day of your last year in high school, it goes by way to fast. I'm sure you hear from lots of people don't rush your senior year because you will miss it when you leave. Well, that is true, college is so different than high school and for the most part, you probably will miss it. That's okay, but just know you will be okay in the future, you will get the hang of it. Try to focus on the challenges that head your way because they will only prepare you for whats next.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
