Florence. Known for its picturesque views and home to incredible monuments such as the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi gallery, and many more. It is difficult to articulate with words how beautiful this city really is, and no picture can do it justice. The cobblestone streets, grand apartment doors, textile roofs, and even storefronts are breathtaking. The buildings originating from hundreds of years ago take you back in time and provide a deeper appreciation for art and architecture; something I never thought I would be interested in.

I have completely fallen in love with this city already and am eager to explore every inch of it during my time here. Despite Florence being a heavily tourist ridden city, it still manages to maintain authentic and genuine Italian culture. Everywhere you turn, you can hear soft conversations being held over espresso or gelato, outside a small cafe, or just walking through the streets.

I have had the best food of my life in the few days I have been here, and I'm sure I will say that with each new day and new food I try. It's too early to declare my favorite one, so I will save them all for the end of my semester and compile a list for anyone visiting or studying abroad in Florence in the future.

It is truly an adjustment living in a place where there is a language barrier and daily life is different, but it has already taught me so much about humans and our means of interaction. We find ways to communicate, and although language is important, it can be overcome. There are small differences between Italian and American culture that make a big impact, such as the lack of dryers in apartments; something I have now learned I took for granted. The simplistic rooms with just the necessities in them, has taught me that less is more. The positive, relaxed way of life that contradicts the busy, bustling, stressful days of Americans has helped me to stop and look around; enjoying the view and all that surrounds me. I have developed a deeper appreciation for life, that will only grow with each day I spend here.

As they say it here, fino alla prossima volta; until next time.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
