You're Fired!

Are Donald Trump's controversial comments hurting his campaign run?

You're Fired!

Donald Trump’s famous line is now being used against him as he has lost several major partnerships with companies such as Macy’s, Univision and NBC Universal, due to some upsetting comments about immigration, targeting Mexicans specifically.

As I’m sure everyone has heard by now, the billionaire Donald Trump, worth $8.4 billion to be exact, is running for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination. His campaign is only two weeks old and has been nothing short of a roller coaster ride. Recently, his comments discussing the issue of immigration in the United States have become quite controversial. Trump attacked illegal immigrants in his presidential announcement and has identified them as “rapists” and “killers.”

Trump is known for not having a filter, and while this may have damaged the outlook on immigrants, it does not seem to have hurt his presidential candidacy run. Trump is still sitting at the No. 2 position among GOP presidential candidates according to the latest CNN national poll. He is slightly trailing behind Republican Jeb Bush, and according to Trump, this country does not need another Bush.

The Republicans, however, are in a frenzy with Trump’s polarizing comments. The Republican party is in serious need of Latino and African-American votes to help win the next presidential election. And according to most people, Trump accusing them of being killers and rapists is not helping their cause.

Can the world imagine Donald Trump as the next President? He is certainly known for creating thousands of jobs, and he understands what it takes to succeed in the business world. He assures us he'll make our military strong again, cutting off talks with Iran who's developing a nuclear bomb, and he intends to perform in a position of strength rather than appeasement. He is promising to repeal the national healthcare law, which will cost taxpayers billions of dollars and limit our freedom in spending. His recent media coup does not suit well his strong ideas for our country, but Trump has the ability of making a strong President and taking the necessary steps to making this country great again.

Many are taking a stance which applauds Trump for discussing topics others are afraid to bring up. You could say that this man is pretty fearless. But, there is still a long way to go until the presidential election in 2016. And whether you agree or disagree with his views, Donald Trump has definitely stirred the pot and opened up discussion on various controversial topics.

After being told “You’re Fired” from NBC, Univision and Macy’s, "The Donald" hopes that the American people will tell him on November 8, 2016 “You’re Hired!” as president of the United States of America.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
