It can be so easy to slack off in the final weeks of the semester, especially if you've been working your butt off all year. Here are some motivating thoughts and hacks to try out to keep yourself motivated and ready with two months until final exams!
Keep your desk space clean
A cluttered and busy working area can increase your anxiety and make it difficult for you to focus and get anything done. Keeping a desk space mostly bare and well-lit will make it easier for your brain to stay on track with the task at hand. It makes for more efficient study time, and will make you more relaxed and productive overall.
Get enough sleep
This is pretty much a no-brainer, but it's so easy to prioritize work, extracurriculars, and relationships over rest. You get drained so much faster if you don't get the amount of sleep your body needs to recover. Sleep also improves your memory, making it easier to study and remain up to speed in all of your classes. Don't sleep on catching Z's, you'll regret it later!
Find things to look forward to
Whether it's spring break, a school event, a birthday, or some other exciting time, set a countdown or mark it on your calendar. Having something to look forward to in the immediate future can make you more excited and productive in the present. It can also put you in a better mood as the event approaches!
Set goals and rewards for yourself
Setting attainable goals is so important. It makes you feel like you are accomplishing something and making progress. I personally love making to-do lists for my day or weekend. I get so much satisfaction out of checking something off. A motivator to complete the necessary task is a reward system. As an example: if I finish this paper I can (insert reward here). It could be something as simple as meeting friends for a meal, taking a nap, or watching an episode of your favorite TV show on Netflix. As my roommate loves to say; treat yo self!
Keep yourself healthy
Nobody can afford to be sick in the health center in the midst of exams, finals, or a really busy season in college life. Eating a balanced diet, exercising, and making time to reset and relax are all important to maintaining your physical and mental health during a stressful time. Don't forget about yourself and your needs as school picks up over the next few weeks!
