Turn on your TV. What do you see? Bombings. Shoots. Complete and utter terror. This is what our world has come to, and at times it seems like it is never going to stop. For us, here in the United States, we’re lucky. We don’t walk out our door and see neighborhoods and schools, airports and town squares being torn to pieces every single day. But for a lot of people, that’s just another day.
It’s tough to turn on the TV and see all the people who are hurt and are continually persecuted. Sometimes it’s so tough, we just turn off the TV and forget we even saw it in the first place. If you ask me, that is what’s wrong with human beings. We tend to turn a blind eye when things get gory. And let me tell you, that is the last thing that we need to do.
The word peace rings out from ever person when tragedies strike. Everyone wants peace. So new laws are put into place. Guns are locked up. Voices are put into tiny boxes. And you know what? That is not peace. That is a mere façade of what the world thinks that peace is. So what really is peace?
There’s only one place where true peace is found. It’s where you can find eternal life and actual happiness. It’s Jesus, y’all. He really is the answer. As corny as it may sound, Jesus is your only way of finding true peace. And as far as this world goes, we’re not ever going to have world peace. It’s just not going to happen. There are too many cooks in the kitchen that don’t have the right cookbooks. There’s only one God that bring the kind of peace we need.
But people are still out there hurting. We don’t know what tomorrow will bring, but we may be able to help them get through another day. You have a God who loves you and will listen to your voice. He answers prayers every single day, and there’s nothing too big or too small for Him to handle. When you can’t stand to look at something so horrible, so heartbreaking, that’s a sign that you need to be talking to God. So pray. Pray for Belgium. Pray for your family. Pray for this world.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27
