If you think about it, where do our inspirations in life truly arise from? Often, we see those around us as a motivation to emulate from, but in doing so we neglect to observe the less obvious inspirations. They can't be found on social media, they can't be seen in your coworkers or even your best friends. I am talking about the ones we find for ourselves.
We tend to ignore the little bursts of inspirations found from times like when driving at dusk and different colors of the sun spread beautifully across the sky in ways we've never seen before. We overlook how protective trees can be in offering a solace from the scorching sun. Have you ever actually drawn inspiration from how resilient mountains always seem to remain? We don't need to nourish our inspirational hunger with others because we can find it in nature. If you look, there is so much more to gain than just a pretty view.
Let's look at sunflowers for example. Although they are striking to the eye, these daringly bright plants offer a multitude of inspirations. I find inspiration in the way sunflowers grow to towering lengths without stopping for any reason. In the fields, they usually are the tallest thing around with their heads held high. Even more beautiful is the vibrant yellow color which remains a symbol of positivity and happiness. The sunflower's charm can bring light and radiate that "happiness from within" feeling onto others. Most importantly, they thrive in the sun. We all could take a lesson on veering towards the light even on the cloudy days
When it comes to these sunflowers there is something I find so alluring about their stature, but I'm not alone. There's a reason they sparked even Vincent Van Gogh's attention. It is said that during one of Van Gogh's happiest and most optimistic times in his life, he painted five masterpieces having the center be a vase of sunflowers. Van Gogh was able to capture their beauty in a way that one single painting had sold for 40 million dollars at auction. While they carry their worth based mostly from the creator, it says a lot that art collectors were willing to pay millions to own a portrait of a vase of sunflowers.
Although these awe-inspiring flowers make for aesthetically pleasing Instagram's and stunning photo backdrops, their real attractiveness comes from what more they offer us. The next time you see something as simple as a sunset, ask yourself what more is there than a pretty view. Nature has a way of speaking to us that is different than what any person would be able to say as inspiration. Be like a sunflower by keeping your head held high, radiating positivity, and inspiring others to do the same.
