Find Your Happy Place During Finals Week

As you begin to embark on one of the most stressful weeks of your life, I encourage you to find that place that brings you peace in the middle of the storm. That place where at 3 am when you're about to lose your mind you can go there and find this sudden urge of calmness. Whether it be on your campus front lawn, a local coffee shop, dairy queen, or even waffle house. Make sure to take the time to enjoy your happy place next week even if it's three times a day. There is no judgment when it comes to keeping your sanity.

"I took you from the ends of the earth,
from its farthest corners I called you.
I said, ‘You are my servant’;
I have chosen you and have not rejected you.
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Isaiah 41:9-10

My happy place back home is the beach, but since I am currently two hours away from there I have been blessed to find another in Valdosta. Which is located at the Baptist Collegiate Ministries on campus, the prayer room has become my home away from home happy place since we are encouraged to go at least once a week. The prayer room is filled with tons of sticky notes with encouragement, bible verses, struggles, and everything in between. My prayer time is every Friday, and like clockwork each week after my prayer slot my heart is filled with so much happiness. It is a great way to end my week, but also prepares me for the challenges of the upcoming weeks. I can feel the brokenness of our campus every time I walk and any problem that I may be struggling is suddenly uplifted after going in there. So this week I certainly will be using the prayer room to my advantage, not to prayer for an A, but to pray that God gives me the strength to make it through the week.

So search far and wide for that place that will bring you the answers when studying for hours has drained it all out of you.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
