It's almost close to that time during the semester when children my age drown in their own sorrows and cram finishing most of their assignments before finals week. Yes, it is almost finals week. This week is a sense of dread for all college students, but I would like to think I handle the stress at my own pace. Here is a list of things I do to not let finals week stress me out to the core.
1. I try not to panic.
Even though I am super anxious, deep breathing always helps. I inhale and exhale. I nap during the day. It isn't a crime to nap in your bedroom or even just close your eyes in a public area. Midterms always give me a reason to panic. However, I just don't let it take over me.
2. I just have to sleep early, or else I won't function during the day.
I literally get about six hours of sleep at the most. Well, students like me nowadays live through stress leading to finals week. It is nothing to be ashamed about. But, for someone like me, getting sleep for eight hours sounds like a must. Stony Brook gets me all the time, but it doesn't mean finals week will take on its own course without my approval. I will NOT remain sleep- deprived.
3. I organize myself for the exams next week.
At this point of time, what's the use of cramming? I have taken notes, looked at my materials for weeks and weeks prior to today. Of course, organizing them and refreshing them every day before the midterm hits me hard sounds to be like a great idea. Let me just get my pen out. I am on my way to practice, rest, and sleep well before my midterm.
Lastly, I won't skip meals. That doesn't seem like a good option. I won't take nature on its own course. I will certainly fight off my frustration and lazy feelings. Finals week isn't something I should be panicking about at all. I will remain calm.
