Well that was unexpected.
Those infamous four words that were always planned to end "Gilmore Girls" before Amy Sherman-Palladino's departure from her series before the seventh and final season have been spoken. And honestly, I'm shocked.
There will be spoilers from here on out, so if you haven't watched the Netflix revival, "Gilmore Girls: a Year in the Life," don't read anymore.
Still reading? Ok, here we go.
So, Rory is pregnant.
That is not what I expected. It feels like I have always watched "Gilmore Girls" when it played everyday on ABC Family, but I was never a die-hard. I had no theories on what the last five words would be, so maybe someone had this theory all along, but I never thought it would happen like this.
This is intriguing.
Now that Rory is having a baby, doesn't there have to be another Netflix series? There are so many questions I want answered. Is the baby Logan's? (probably) Will Rory and Jess ever end up together? (most fans hope so) Are Lorelai and Luke destined for happily ever after? (no doubt) Where can I buy a dog like Paul Anka?
Gilmore Girls can be never-ending. Because there is no definite end or a real beginning, it can continue following the many generations of Gilmore women; Emily, Lorelai, Rory, and maybe even Rory will have a daughter of her own.
If the show does well, I see no reason why Netflix wouldn't try to bring more "Gilmore" to the world. In a television landscape filled with high concepts and crazy and complicated stories, the world of Stars Hollow feels like home. It's not quite like my hometown, but still familiar enough to make me feel comfortable. I think there's an gaping hole in the tv world for more shows like "Gilmore Girls" and why not fill that hole with more Gilmores?
