I know that when I get home all I want to do (and end up doing) is lay in bed and watch Jeffree Star make up reviews. This results in a lot of pleasant feelings, but I feel incredibly lazy afterward. Here are five things to try instead of binging on food, YouTube videos, or a new Netflix series.
1. Read a book.
This is something I'd like to do myself. Books are interesting and fun to read but it is also a way to educate yourself. I feel like I was smarter and more intuitive when I read often. You don't have to read stuff that you are not into, try to find a genre that makes you want to read more. I say this because in school we are told to read things that may not be your cup of tea, and sometimes that may sway your opinion reading.
2. Exercise
Don't laugh — actually, you can laugh a little. There's a thing with exercising: it is exhausting and not that appealing. Even the actual process of exercising is a drag, but the feeling that comes after is literally great. I have never felt so productive and fresh as I feel after exercise. It is worth the pain. Go for it.
3. Clean your space.
If you're anything like me, you can tolerate living in a messy place. I don't care too much about a mess, but there gets to be a point where I literally cannot be in the room if I do not clean it in the next five seconds. When you eventually decide to clean, it is actually fun and you feel good about yourself. So, blast some music and get to work.
4. Write a book.
I told you to read a book, but maybe that isn't what floats your boat. Maybe you like to write more. Search up a random prompt generator, get inspired, and you might end up with a best seller. Then, you'll be glad you took my advice.
5. Do the thing you've been avoiding.
There must be something you have avoided for some time now. I'm sure there's that one assignment you have in the back of your mind as you watch a Shane Dawson video, and I suggest you get to it.
I'll be sure to use this as a reference the next time I get home and decide that being in bed is the better option.
