From blonde to...

Well, you'll see.

Every now and then I like to change things up with how I look. Often times when I make a change it involves my outfits, hair, and sometimes body modifications. Recently I've been focusing my changes on my hair.

In 2016 my hair changed color frequently. In summer it was an aqua blue-green. Later I changed it to a metallic lavender, which faded to a silver. Later I went white/blonde, with mint green in it. This time, I went even bolder.

People often wonder why I do this to my hair; to them they think it's "unnecessary" or even some times unattractive. Things like that don't phase me. For, well, I believe hair is an accessory. I get bored with my hair being the same for so long, so I like to change it up once in a while. Unnatural colors are called "fashion" colors for a reason: they're bright, bold, and fun.

My hair started off platinum blonde. It's slightly lighter than my natural blonde hair, and was the result of the mint green quickly fading. For a while I had thought of going bright again; but I have this thing where I dislike repeating colors. I had some pink a couple years ago, and figured after all the cool, slightly pastel colors going a bright, warm color would be perfect.

Not only would this hair be brighter than my future, but it would have something even more special about it. The color used is neon glow hair. Yes, glow. The color glows under blacklight! I haven't gotten to see it yet, but I can not wait.

From blonde to... fire? I went with a nice concoction of reds, oranges, and yellows to create a fiery phoenix look, inspired by GuyTangs "Phoenix Hair" look. I enjoy the variety of color that gives the hair a very intense look. The tri-color scheme give a lot of depth to what potentially would be a very flat look.

The result was, to me, magical. My hair seems to glow all the time, whether outside, in the dark, or in regular light. The new color brings out a new side of me. I couldn't be happier with the color results.

Does this count as a new year new me? Not really. I see it as spicing up who I've always been.

Below are pictures of the hair after the coloring process was complete. Shout out to my friend Ayla for coloring my hair this amazing color!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
