The True History

Compiled by Princess Themis of Virgo

My brother, the Prince Primaron, had already compiled an account of the incident in the colony of Egypt. If anyone finds this scroll, know that it is the one true account. The story the humans there will tell is utter nonsense. The story my mother, Empress Ionna Sigma, dictated is also false. She had told me that all of that was an act of honor, but I disagree. Virgos do not lie, even if familial issues are at hand. She, nor any of my siblings know that I'm writing this. When this scroll is opened in the future, I'll rest easy knowing the people know what really happened.

I still remember vividly when we arrived in Egypt. It was all desert, no water besides some oasis's and the one river. The people there were all woefully uncivilized and struggling. I have to add they were strange looking as well, they shared the same bodily anatomy as us, but their skins were dark, in contrast to our pale skin. Not right in the head either. When we arrived, and my father, Cyrus, Prince Imperial, had to use his powers to heal himself of a burn, they thought us deities. I supposed it made it easier for them to accept our help, but not exactly a good first impression. We were all given names by the humans: Mother was Isis, Father was Osiris, my older sister, Crown Princess Athena, was Nephthys, my twin brother, Thalus, Prince Primaron, was Thoth, I was named Ma'at, my younger sister, Princess Eunome, was Mut, and my younger brother, Prince Horus, kept his name. With our help, the humans built a prosperous civilization.

My father was much loved by the humans. Mainly because they were a patriarchal people, but in memory, he was a wonderful male. A former solider and a man of the people, if you will. My mother was intelligent and benevolent, and ruled with honor and grace. The land prospered, but the rule was not to last. My aunt, Princess Semele soon arrived. She was an awfully greedy woman, and insane. She was a Delta, one with emotions. It was rumored she poisoned my grandmother, Empress Ionna Rho, and she had tried to murder my parents so she would acquire the crown. She was thrown in prison, but the Imperial Guard had underestimated her power, and she escaped to Earth. Semele challenged my mother to a duel. As twins, they were evenly matched, but Semele was cunning, and she seized the colony, kidnapped father, and drove us all to lower Egypt, forgetting we could beam back to the empire. All was still well there, but Semele's reign in Egypt was disastrous. There was still no overthrowing it, as the humans believed her a goddess, and she was as powerful as Mother.

It was many years before she was challenged. My brother Horus had reached the age of omicron (For those using the Ternis System of Mercury, Earth, Mars, et cetera, 15 revolutions.), and had volunteered to return to Earth, and Thalus and I were to accompany him. Semele was still a loathed queen, none had the means or the courage to challenge her. That is, except for one. We met a human named Nahamua, who hated Semele beyond everything, but had little means to overthrow her. While she was a mere palace slave, she was intelligent despite her emotions. Horus took to her right away, and even now I have to say they made a good team. Nahamua told us all the palace's secrets, and of Semele's newest weapon, a bird-headed scepter the humans called "Was". Her first act was to kill our father, the humans' beloved prince, and harvest his energy so she'd be more powerful than ever. I still remember the look on my young brother's face. Anger. Pure anger. A signal of a Delta, but nonetheless, he was good. And it would help. It takes a Delta to defeat another Delta.

Within the week, Horus faced Semele in a terrible duel. Even with her scepter, the two of them were near evenly matched. All the humans present were horrified, until Mother appeared and assisted him. Semele was defeated, and during her trial, which I myself presided over, she was dethroned and confined to the southern desert for the rest of her life. Mother granted Horus the crown of Egypt, and some years later, Nahamua, whom the humans soon called Hathor, became his wife and queen. Their reign lasted many years, and they were much beloved by their subjects.

Mother made it clear she wanted Semele erased from history, so she had Thalus create the tale of the canine-headed creature "Set" in her place. All records of her reign in Egypt were to be burned, whether in Virgo or on Earth. But not this one. Mother has passed, and my sister, the now Empress Athena Beta, has outlawed the burning of any more literature or history, so I am determined this will survive. Who knows if it will ever reach Earth, but I'll be content if our people know what really happen.

I, Princess Themis Juneau Athena Moira of Virgo, Lady Justice to the newly colonized Greek humans, and Ma'at to the Egyptian humans, do hereby affirm that this account is the absolute truth.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
