Every Millennial Needs To Attend At Least 1 Music Festival By Their 30s

Music festivals are no doubt a quintessential part of this generations' culture. There are musical festivals for pretty much any genre of music. Of course, electronic dance music - better known as EDM - has the largest selection of music festivals, however there are a lot of other popular festivals that are aimed towards lovers of country, rap, and folk/alternative music. Personally, my favorite music festival is Hard Summer held in Fontana, California. This has been a tradition in the making with my friend group and I, and we will most definitely be attending again this year.

Everyone should attend a music festival because I truly believe it is a type of alternative universe; it is a beautiful utopia. Everyone you meet is so nice and friendly, and always willing to help out with anything you need. Whether it's gum, water, or even a fan, festival goers are some of the nicest humans you will ever meet. Due to the large crowds, it is always imperative that you stick together with your "festival fam" - or commonly known as simply your festival group.

For example, one of the nicest couples I've met so far was at Hard Summer. One of my friends had to leave to use the restroom in the middle of a Snakehips set (where thousands of people all congregated at, the main stage), and one of the guys near us and his girlfriend adopted us into their group and insisted on holding up a huge paper fan for about 30 minutes so our friend would be able to find us again.

Phones don't work at all due to the high volume of people at these festivals, so it is so important to stick with your group and mark a meeting spot. I really never had to deal with any type of aggressive people at a festival. Unless you're in the mosh pit, or trying to cut to the front in the middle of a set, people are always the sweetest.

Festival goers are some of the least judgmental people I've ever been around. With the exception of Coachella, most festivals are a place where you can dress up in your funkiest metallic, neon, or bejeweled wear and not have a single person look at you funny. Girls are constantly complimenting your outfits and trying to become your friend. I don't know what kind of festival magic is sprinkled on people, but it really does turn everyone in the nicest version of themselves.

Some of the bigger music festivals that I have attended have been: Hard Summer, Wet Electric, and Decadence. A lot of the smaller concerts I have been to have been so much fun, but festivals are by far the best experience. It is such an incredible time being surrounded by positive vibes, with so many of your friends, and seeing amazing artists one after the other. Everyone should definitely attend at least one music festival in their twenties.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
