On September 8th, 2017, the makeup game was drastically changed. Sure, you had the release of Kylie Cosmetics and then Kim Kardashian West's makeup line as well. There have been many collaborations and makeup brands ranging between Jeffree Star, Jacqueline Hill, James Charles, and so many other celebrities. So, why should Rihanna's Fenty makeup line be any different?
Fenty is mainly focused on skin products instead of eye and lip makeup. Coming in 40 shades, Rihanna's line covers all skin colors - seriously. There is no color that a makeup-wearer can't find; whether they have pink, green, yellow undertones, and there are shades for people with albanism as well. The foundation is a liquid that dries matte and provides great coverage - perfect for any kind of skin type.
In addition to foundation, Fenty includes one of the most incredible highlights that anyone has seen in a long time. Blinding highlight seems to be the new makeup trend (and it seems like it will stay that way for a while) so it's great to see a highlight that works for everyone and still looks incredible.
Also released in this brand is a contour option which comes in a cream stick. Shaped like lipstick, this contour is ready for easy access to get that sharp contour that is also the in-trend and is ready to stay for a while.
Fenty also sells primer, blotting paper, and brushes; although it may not be long until a wider range of products of this brand goes up for sale. However, it's refreshing to see that this brand is not all about glitz and glam - you don't need to have the skill of a makeup artist to make these products look amazing.
When someone hears that there is a new prestigious makeup line - especially one made by a celebrity - the assumption is that the prices will be through the roof; almost impossible to buy if you're a broke college kid (like me). Rihanna kept this in mind as well and she made the prices of these products slightly lower than what you would expect - especially if a well-known name is tied to it.
Rihanna made the best decision in designing these makeup products in the way that she did. There is no over the top looks, no drastic eye makeup that only beauty gurus can apply. Fenty appeals to anyone and everyone - no matter your skin color, type, or undertones. Shout out to Queen Rihanna for designing a makeup brand that has changed the beauty world.
