Feminism... What The Hell It Really Is

The older you get, the wiser you get. Right? Well, I mean for most people that's how it works. Once you start to grow older you start to understand things better and you start to understand what you believe in and what's morally wrong and right in your opinion.

I think taking an anthropology class really helped me figure out my beliefs in the world and who and what I support.

But let me just get right down to the point: feminism.

I don't know why but the issue of feminism has been really big lately. But I don't think that people really understand what the hell it truly is and what the hell to do with it. Which is a big problem. If I'm going to see it everywhere on social media and in media in general, we should seriously have a talk about what it really means.

The definition of feminism is, the advocacy of women's rights on the ground of equality of the sexes.

Woah, wait... You mean that feminism stands for equal rights? Then why do people think it means that women are better than men?

Good freaking point. I honestly don't know why people think that's what feminism is. Because it's really not.

I mean, if you look at media - they play a big part and how persuasive their writing is. I think along the way of the knowledge of what feminism is, someone somewhere took the term and made it the complete opposite. That's what the media does - they can make someone or something look like it was sent from heaven or a nightmare with just the right type of headline, angle, and the smallest ounce of proof.

But I could be wrong.

It could be that someone somewhere truly believed that maybe were better than men and if that is true, thank you for giving us feminists a bad name.

But I'm not here to point fingers. I'm here to make sure that the word "feminism" isn't something you cringe at. It should be something you want to be proud of, something that is a serious issue.

I used to think feminism was stupid and that it really was a term that women used to tell men that they were better than them.

And yet I was wrong.

Feminism is something that not only is a worthy cause but brings the female and even male population together. Something that not just one person believes in but millions of people believe in. And in this case millions believe in equal rights for both genders.

But there isn't anything left to say other than now you are properly educated on what feminism is.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
