It's a wonderful world full of hate crimes and female oppression, and I am tired of seeing articles like this one, and it angers my soul. Because this is just wrong. Feminists still believe in equality for all people, with the exceptions being the fake feminists, but they don't even count.
Feminism is something we should all want to have in the world, and I can't fathom not wanting to be apart of this movement. Who wants to sit back and watch other people get a better life just because they lucked into the good DNA? It's not right. We feminists fight for the right to not let your sexual organs define your quality of life. And you should support your fellow women, even if you don't want to participate.
I don't understand not wanting to be allowed the same opportunities as our male counterparts. I cannot understand why you wouldn't want every available opportunity. I can't understand it, and frankly, I don't want to. Because if you don't strive to take every available opportunity, then what are you doing with your life? Because life is a series of opportunities that you choose to take or not take, but if the opportunities aren't there, your life is suddenly just...nothing.
It just seems like a terribly sad life to live. Granted, I realize that everyone is entitled to their own set of opinions, I just wish I could at least understand the reasoning behind these opinions. It seems like the gist of this article says that because of fake feminists, the entire movement is just trash, and I cannot in good conscience support that thought process.
Feminists have fought way before my time, earning us the right to vote. They made us legally important. And today's feminists are fighting for our right to be seen as equals, which has been a battle since the early feminists. It's taken too many years to get to where we are now, and we deserve to have our voices heard.
We deserve to be able to decide for ourselves how we want to live, and who we want to sleep with, and we deserve to be able to walk to our dorm after a night class without having to keep our keys in our hands to protect ourselves from rapists, and we deserve to not be assaulted with "were you asking for it?" if we are raped.
We deserve to make the same amount of money as our male coworkers who are doing the same damn job. We deserve to be treated as human beings, not just women. We deserve so much more than what we are getting right now, and I don't see why that is shameful to think.
And if you think that this sounds like making women superior to men, then maybe that's the whole point. Men have had the superior position for so long, that making it fair is seen as tearing them down.
