how I rEALLY Feel About Graduating College

I'm definitely feeling those post graduation blues...

how I rEALLY Feel About Graduating College
Colette Wright

It's been a little over a month since I graduated college, and to be honest, I am not sure how I really feel about it. What I can say is graduating comes with a mixed bag of emotions.

Throughout my whole senior year, I was honestly so excited to graduate and had the typical case of senioritis. I also thought that when I woke up the day after graduation, I would start my perfect post-grad life, and everything would magically fall into place. I would become a completely responsible adult with all of my stuff together overnight. I would be sensational and make everyone proud. That didn't happen.

I don't want to turn this into a sob story because I'm loving post-grad life! It feels like a refreshing and much-needed change of pace to not have to constantly keep up with homework, three jobs, and social obligations. My workload has substantially decreased, and my emotional stability has definitely increased because of this. However, at times, I really do miss college, and it's hard to believe everything is over already.

I finally have weekends again! In college, sure you had weekends, but they were filled with homework you still had to get done. Speaking of homework... I still have dreams where I skip a final exam, fail a class, or get an email saying I still need one class left to graduate. This could possibly stem from the fact I'm still in disbelief I graduated in the normal amount of time. How did I manage that when I constantly stretched myself so thin?

Overall, I am, of course, super proud of myself! I'm overjoyed to be done with college.

However, there are definitely some aspects I miss about it, and I realize I might never have these luxuries again. I never realized how much freedom I truly had. I never felt free necessarily, but out here in the real world, you're always working. In college, your only real obligation was turning in necessary assignments and passing classes. Speaking of classes... I miss learning! College offers such a plethora of knowledge and while I don't miss homework, I miss the classroom experience.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
