How to Look and Feel Your Best on the First Day of School

It’s that time of year again! The first day of school is approaching us. Whether you are in college, high school, or middle school, everyone wants to look and feel their best as they are starting a new year of school.

Here are some great looks to try out in your new school year.

This FIRST look is pretty edgy. It's perfect for when you want to channel your inner 90’s grunge enthusiast. This look consists of a red, black, and white long plaid shirt, a pair of light wash, ripped boyfriend jeans, as well as black ankle booties. For accessories, a big, black cross body tote bag, that is big enough to hold some of your school essentials, whilst still looking cute. I also added a chunky necklace, black sunnies, and a black watch. For the hair, a half up, half down bun with loose waves. For makeup, a red lip is a must, as well has bold lashes.

The SECOND look is bohemian, with a touch of feminine chic. I paired a blue jean dress with a pair of black gladiator sandals. I added a peter-pan collar inspired necklace, as well as a black wrap bracelet, a black watch, and black diamond stud earrings. A small, yet usable black book bag was also paired with this outfit. It’s one of those book bags you see the Kardashians carry around all the time. But, you are actually going to school, therefore you are going to put some use towards it. For the hair, loose waves with a half up, half down style, tied off with a black bow. For makeup, a burgundy/wine colored lipstick, as well as burgundy/wine colored nail polish.

The THIRD look is for all of the frilly, girly girls out there. A pale grey crop top with strategically placed embroidery, paired with a salmon colored faux leather skirt. For shoes: pale gray sandals. And for the bags, I added a small, grey book bag, for all of your school needs, but I also had to add a chic, pale grey, leather purse to tie the outfit together. For hair, a milk maid braid around the head. For makeup, a salmon colored lip, and a cat-eye eyeliner look with salmon colored eye shadow. A salmon colored nail polish was also added as an extra touch.

The FOURTH look channels your inner army soldier. I paired an army green flowy vest, with an army green tank crop top. Under the tank, I added a lacy, black bralette, for a touch of femininity. A pair of black, high-waisted jeans with ripped knees were also added as a classic and comfortable bottom. Studded black and silver sandal flats with fringe, make the perfect shoe for this outfit. For accessories, a huge, black tote bag for your books, a beanie with a puff ball on the top, silver and black bangles, and a silver, layered necklace. For hair, messy beach waves, and for make up, a red lip is 100% necessary.

For the FIFTH and final look, I paired a black t-shirt dress, with a red, long cardigan and black combat boots. For accessories, a black, fringe book bag, a layered necklace, and black, dangly earrings. For hair, loose waves, and for makeup, a red lip. And for a touch of goth, black nail polish.

I hope these ideas can help aid you in your fashion choices this year. MAKE THIS SCHOOL YEAR THE BEST ONE YET!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
