Recently, I've been thinking more and more about my future. One thing that keeps coming to mind are children. This is due to the fact that I watched kids get off the bus when I was home for spring break also. It made me realize that I will genuinely feel bad for my children. It won't be because of future generations they'll live in, the joke that our political system will be or my parenting skills. It will be that they will never get to enjoy the '90s like I did.
There are an immense number of things my children will never get to experience or experience with their friends. Let's face it, they can still enjoy some of things the '90s had to offer, but it wouldn't be in the same atmosphere.
First off, we have '90s snacks my kids will never get to experience. They'll never get to enjoy Oreos, Dunkaroos, Wonder Ball, Juice in a Barrel and so much more.
They'll never get to dance along to the Electric Slide, the Macarena, the Carlton, the Hammer or all the other crazes at their school dances.
When I have kids they'll experience Xbox 12 or Nintendo DS 8. They're really missing out on the video games that we had when were kids like Tamagotchis, Nintendo 64, Gamecube and Gameboy.
The children movies now compared to Disney movies from the '90s are like crumbs to a five-star dinner. Really anything on TV now doesn't come close to what had during the '90s like "Suite Life of Zack and Cody," "Hannah Montana," "Fresh Prince of Bel Air," "PowerPuff Girls," "Johnny Bravo," "Full House," "All That" and everything TV had to offer.
As my kids go through the education process, they'll never get the glorious feeling when TV was rolled with the VHS to watch "Bill Nye the Science Guy" or "The Magic School Bus."
My children will never get to experience '90's footwear like Heelys or gel glitter sandals. Really, they won't get to enjoy the '90s fashion or accessories at all. They won't get wear butterfly hair clips or the hair ties that have two balls on them.
My children will never have the opportunity to get slimed. Let's all admit, we all wanted to get slimed with Nickelodeon slime all of our childhood.
They won't get to have the pens and pencils we had during class. Remember the multicolored pens that we tried to push the colors down at once or the push pencils that if they lost one piece you were screwed?
My children will never get to experience board games like "Don't Wake Up Daddy," "Pretty Pretty Princess" or "High Ho Cherrio."
My kids will also miss out on stick-on earrings, the McDonald's happy chairs, beaded bike spokes and many other things.
Overall when we look back at what the '90s had to offer, my children will be jealous of me.
