A letter to my awesome Dad.

Why Father's Day Should Last A Lifetime
Allison Strang

To my dearest, hilarious and loving dad,

Once a year, we dedicate one day to you: a single day that we are supposed to fill with our gratitude for you, with gifts you fully deserve, with putting you first. We set aside just 24 hours to show you how thankful we are for you and how much we love you. But if I could, Dad, I would make Father's Day last a lifetime.

Thank you for teaching me what it is to be loyal. You are the only man in my lifetime that will be there for me unconditionally. From watching my first smile spread across my face to watching my heart break for the first time, you stay by my side. You spelt out the definition of loyalty to me just by being an incredible example. You sat through every event I participated in, no matter how long of a day you had at work, and you kept a huge smile on your face through it all. You are my rock, the foundation of who I am, and I will forever be grateful of the values in life that you have taught me.

Thank you for showing me what humor is. From the jokes you tell that are downright stupid to the one's that make me think a little bit, you have shown me what comedy is. Yes, Kevin Hart is great and Adam Sandler has given me a few laughs, but nothing compares to a good old dad joke. Whether you sing a stupid song that literally makes zero sense, or actually tell a decent knock knock joke, you never fail to make me genuinely laugh out loud. I may take your humor for granted sometimes and I may act annoyed by your attempts to make me laugh when I am in a bad mood every once in a while, but know that I never ever want to hear your last joke. I appreciate your comedy acts daily, and I will always look forward to the next punch line.

Thank you for being the calm within the storm. When I get overwhelmed and I am on the verge of a quarter-life crisis, you always have the rational solution to any problem, and you find it in the least stressful way. Although Mother is an incredible problem solver, we all know she can get just as stressed and moody as me when I am in a sticky situation (sorry, Mom). I could come to you with any issue, no matter the seriousness of the matter, and you just quickly and calmly find the answer. You have showed me what it means to stay level-headed. You stay cool when you need to, especially when I am pulling my hair out due to stress, and you always find a way for me to eventually chill out as well. Thank you for understanding rationality and showing me the proper way to handle a stressful situation.

Thank you for showing me the type of man I should look for in a husband. You have taught me that I will never need to settle, because you are an example of a great husband, father, and friend. You balance the fun and seriousness in life. You exemplify how to work hard and play hard. You have made your family incredibly happy for years, even when times have seemed impossible. Your selflessness is beyond apparent in your daily actions. Whether you are helping your family, your best friend, or a complete stranger, you are always putting others before you. I dream of being as lucky as Mom when it comes to finding a lifelong partner in crime. Your love, generosity and support will never go unnoticed. Your values in life haven't just caused you to be an exceptional father, but an exceptional human being. You are more than a great dad. More importantly, you are an incredible and inspiring person.

I could give you an infinite amount of reasons to prove that you are the best father I could ask for. There are so many successes in my life that I could have never completed without you. There are no words in the world that could ever describe how grateful I am for you and how much I love you.

And that is why I will never understand why Father's Day is just one day out of the year.

Keep the dad jokes and life lessons rollin'.

Love,

Your gracious daughter

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
