Farewell, Odyssey

But first, let me share my favorite articles!

Farewell, Odyssey
Deneice Giovinazzo

I've been writing for Odyssey for 10 months now. I've submitted 45 articles all typed by my own two hands. I've used my values, opinions, facts, and experiences to write every single article and made sure not one article is just fluff. I have put my heart and time into creating content that opens a discussion, makes someone laugh, and hopefully inspires someone to pursue something they never thought they could accomplish. I have learned more about myself these past 10 months and owe that to Odyssey. Odyssey ignited a fire in my heart to pursue a career in content writing, which is a path that was never on my radar.

With that, I have decided to step away from Odyssey and create a brand with my own name on it. I have taken what Odyssey has taught me and began working on this during the past 3 months not knowing when it would take flight. It is not where I want it yet, but I know with time it will be something I hope opens a discussion, makes someone laugh, and inspires someone to put their own name on something.

It only makes sense to reminisce about the articles that were most impactful during these past 10 months. So here are 5 of my favorite and one sentence on why I wrote it:

1. The Difference in Being Anxious and Having Anxiety

I wanted people to know that "anxiety" isn't a word that should be used lightly.

2. Dear Non-Believer, I Get It

You can't force someone to believe something, even if it is a huge part of your life.

3. A Letter To My Guardian Angel

My sweet Grandmother passed suddenly without anyone knowing she was sick. I wanted her to know how much of an impact she made on my life. Yes, that's two sentences.

4. To My Brother-In-Law

He's more like a family member rather than an in-law.

5. 5 Things Girls Get Scared To Do That Boys Wouldn't Think Twice About

We need more men to be advocates for women rather than taking advantage of them.

I am sad to be signing off on this journey, but I am thrilled to be sharing what's next. Stay tuned because next month something really exciting is going to happen.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
