A Farewell To Organic Chemistry

A final goodbye during finals week

A Farewell To Organic Chemistry
U.S. Army RDECOM

Dear Organic Chemistry I,

You were like a lot of my past relationships but I can’t deny that you had a bit of a reputation before this relationship started. People kept telling me how difficult you were and how you liked to bring others down. At times, you were known to become unstable but you were always able to regain your composure. Despite their advice, I decided to give it a shot with you anyway.

I feel I have worked hard throughout the semester to make our relationship a positive one. I have stayed up late and woken up early in order to sit down and solve your problems. In addition, I have done my best to maintain positive, calm vibes. Even when you had problems navigating your problems toward the end result you wanted, I helped you put all the pieces together.

So now the semester is coming to a close and you called me to end our relationships on Saturday at 2:00pm. Really, organic chemistry? 2:00pm on a Saturday? Is that a respectable way to end a relationship? Couldn’t you have just sent a text rather than cause me to give up three hours of my Saturday solving over a hundred of your problems and then cutting me loose?

It’s not me, it’s you. I have dedicated so much of my time toward this relationship and I think it’s best that I move on now.

And what do I get in return? Well only time will tell if you were kind to me in the grade book.

And now, I shall move on to organic chemistry II. I’ve heard that it treats people better than you do and I wish your future partners luck in their relationships.

Sincerely,

Sydnee

But actually: to all of you who are finishing up this and next week, take a moment to look back on all your accomplishments from this semester and pat yourself on the back. You have endured. And now, the holiday season is here to welcome you into its warm arms and give you a well-deserved break. Have a great finals week everyone!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
