I absolutely love to drive. There is nothing I love more than going on long drives with the windows down and music blaring through the speakers. When I was 16 years old, I followed the routine and got my learners driving permit. I learned how to drive in, at the time, my father's car – a 2002 two-door Honda Civic. On January 9th, 2013, I took my driver’s test in that same Honda Civic, and received my driver’s license. Although the Civic was not “mine”, it was the main car that I used. After graduating high school and realizing that I would need a car to get to and from classes and work, I inherited the Civic. It was finally my car. She was given the name Sally and took on the persona of the coolest car ever. She was small, but she was fierce.
Within the past few months, my beloved first car has been having problem after problem. Throughout this past week, Sally was no longer accelerating and it was discovered that she would need an entirely new Transmission. Transmissions being expensive and Sally being somewhat old, it is inevitable that it is time for us to part.
Thank you for always keeping me warm (your heating system was pretty awesome). Thank you for always fitting into tight spaces (you were the real MVP when people parked like dopes). Thank you for being reliable (except for that one time your battery died in the middle at a stop light, but it’s okay, we’re past that). Thank you for having awesome speakers and always cranking up the tunes just the way I liked it. Thank you for always keeping me safe. Thank you for being the best first car I could have ever asked for.
Although you are not going to be the last car that I have to part with, you are the first and most likely will be the hardest goodbye of them all. I will always remember all the fun adventures you brought me and all the late night driving jam sessions I had with you. You were the best first car I could have ever asked for and will forever have a special place in my heart. Rest In Peace Sally.
