Last Weekend was Family Weekend at FDU. The event kicked off with Sean Astin visiting our school and talking to us about his life and
experience on Friday, October 6th. He went into detail about what it was like to have a mother with Bipolar Disorder. His mother, Patty Duke, was one of the first celebrities that went public with mental illness He also talked about what it was like being unsure of who his biological father was. It was quite the experience hearing a famous actor talk about the most personal things. Later that night, families got to see people get hypnotized by the talented Dan Lornitis.
Saturday, October 7th, was a day jam packed with events. The day started off with a brunch. There was also a carnival, complete with carnival games, popcorn, and cotton candy. Also taking place were different sporting events, including tennis, hockey, and volleyballLater in the day, there was an open mic, where some students showed off their vocal and comedic talents. The a capella group Eh440 showed off how amazing a capella singing is. After that, there was a bingo event and a trivia event. Sunday, there was also a brunch for families to enjoy. This was definitely a weekend to remember at FDU.
