Seriously, I have never wanted to go to school more. I miss my friends, the outside world, freedom. But I have not been able to spend this much time with my family since I was little, and I am loving it. While being trapped at home might not seem fun, there's so much you can do for some great quality family time.
1. Cook for your family dinners together.
Being totally honest, I have not helped with any of the cooking—guess that's what happens when you're the youngest. But everyone else has done a good job of sharing the load. Maybe we should try all cooking together though, making the meal all the better. But we are very much enjoying our nightly family meals.
2. Play board games.
So far, we have played a variety of Trivial Pursuit games. I was at a major disadvantage for the 80s themed one, but I still had fun. We also enjoy Scrabble and Yahtzee.
3. Learn a Tik Tok dance!
I am still trying to talk my family into this one, but they are slowly coming around!
4. Teach your family something you enjoy.
My brother taught us all how to play Spades one of our first nights at home, and we played it almost every night that week!
5. Work out together.
I have completely lost count of the number of walks we have gone on together. We have all also been very supportive of one another in our mini workout and elliptical adventures.
6. Watch a movie.
Pretty basic I know, but I think we all tend to forget how nice it is to laugh with the people we love.
7. Do your work together—quietly!
At certain points of the day, I find us all sitting at the table together, behind laptops, doing everything we wish we could be doing in the real world!
8. Zoom the extended family for a virtual game night!
We tried this the other night and had so much fun! Just catching up with everyone was enjoyable on its own. We have a few more booked for this upcoming weekend now.
I'll be the first to say it, quarantine sucks. But it's where the world is at, and we must make the most of it. We must appreciate all that we have, express gratitude, have open hearts, and enjoy every moment of an at-home lifestyle. And when it's all said and done, we must not forget any of it.
