After Labor Day Weekend, with the kids back to school, and the reality of it already being September officially kicking in, it is safe to agree on one thing: it is time for fall to make an official appearance. The beginning of September has been quite the tease: the calendar says that fall is going to begin, but there are still 90 degree days and what seems to be an unending summer. Autumn will be here before we know it, but thinking about its highlights, we just can't help but want it to be here already!

1. The weather

Who doesn't love a crisp fall day? The heat waves in SEPTEMBER are doing no justice to what is known as the cool weather of fall. It can be bright and sunny without making it unbearable to be outdoors, and leaving the windows open to take in the fall breeze is such a relief at the end of a long day.

2. Fall fashion

Along with fall comes sweater weather, which is a blessing to us all. Sweaters make every day super cozy. Of course, there are also the other fall essentials, such as leggings, jackets, scarves and boots that just make everything more comfortable.

3. Hot drinks

From hot chocolate, hot chai lattes, pumpkin spice lattes, to apple cider, and the ability to drink hot coffee in weather that isn't the same temperature, fall brings on all the best ways to use a mug.

4. Fall colors

Fall also has so many classic dishes and comfort food! Thanksgiving dinner, all of the fall vegetables, apple and pumpkin pie, and apple cider donuts...what's not to love?

6. Keeping up with fall traditions

Fall is not complete without apple and pumpkin picking. They are some of the most wholesome activities for family and friends to take part in during the season, and can help you create amazing pies, spooky jack o'lanterns, bob for apples, and much more fall fun.

7. Time for fireplaces

If sitting by a fireplace and reading a good book sounds like a good time to you...fall is here to help.

8. The scented candles

Most fall lovers will know...there is something about fall that creates the NEED for a new scented candle. Bath and Body Works and Yankee Candle are dangerous places this time of year!!!

Fall also means that we gain one hour of sleep from daylight savings time. Fall back, and spring ahead!

10. Holidays soon to come

Fall also gets to set the stage for the anticipation of the holiday season. Regardless of what you celebrate, there is a sense of calm in fall before the crazy holiday rush that can put anyone in a better mood.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
