8 Fall Fashion Trends You Need To Get In Your Closet ASAP

Get ahead of everyone else and jump on these new fall must-haves. Trust me, you won't regret going all-out when you see Gigi Hadid walking by wearing the same cape as you (wow, you DO have good taste!). But remember, fashion repeats itself, so before you go blowing out your bank account, check in with your mom (or grandma) to see if they have any hidden treasures from over the years.

1. Honey, I shrunk the purse!

Behold: the itty bitty bag trend. Comical yet charming, the petite structure of the bag makes a statement that is larger than life. If you're cautious, go for a smaller version of a regular handbag. Or, If you're feeling daring, try out Jacquemus' microscopic purse that is large enough to hold a single airpod.

2. This just isn't (ren-)faire!

Sound the trumpets, the Renaissance Faire has arrived to town--and by town, I mean the runway. The square necklines we have dreamed of since Juliet Capulet graced them in the movie are now hitting stores, making period dressing fresh and classy.

3. Stay gold, Ponyboy, stay gold.

Robert Frost's "Nothing Gold Can Stay" is completely irrelevant this season; in fact, anything resembling gold should be getting crammed into your closet immediately. Gold's innate ability to make one feel refined and alluring is no longer just for the neck, wrist, and ears: the runway showed off entire looks dipped in 24k which completely obliterated the significance of "gaudy", so expect to see full body looks in stores soon.

4. Sealed with a belt.

We've all seen Blake Lively rocking a pantsuit, and we've all been here for it. This fall, it's the pantsuit 2.0 but with a twist: it's cinched with a belt. You don't even need to invest in a new pantsuit (unless you want to), so go grab yours off the donation pile, nip the waist with a cute belt, and flaunt your new look.

5. Be PREPared.

Prep schools: we fear them, we despise them, and yet we revere their adorably stylish uniforms. I'm talking sweater vests, three-piece plaid sets, sleek blazers, and checked knee socks with loafers. You'll never want to go back to school so badly again.

6. Everything is coming up purple.

2018's pink is in the past. This upcoming fall, purple is all the rage-- especially in an orchid hue. Go full on monochromatic or add a layer of lavender for a pop of color.

7. There's no esCAPE.

Yeah, you heard me right. The cape, originally made bold and alluring by Superman and Batman, is now making an appearance on the runway, and in your closet. Don't be afraid to be bold and rock your inner superpower!

8. Symmetry, schymmetry!

The fashion empire is done with the plain, simple confines of symmetrical clothing. An asymmetrical neckline gives a carefree vibe while still looking incredibly put-together, and it is definitely one of my favorite trends this upcoming fall.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
