Fall fashion is one of those things that I spend months looking forward to, mostly out of a borderline-obsessive love for sweaters, but also because it is the most significant change in fashion that we undergo during each calendar year. So, as it starts to cool down in Washington, I've started to notice what trends have made their way from the runway to our ever-wobbly brick walkways. These big five have been everywhere on campus, and are probably here to stay for the season.

1. Denim (on denim, on denim).

The denim on denim trend isn't going anywhere this season, especially with the resurgence of the denim mini. Everyone is bringing their chambray shirts and light-wash jeans, and some are even topping it off with over-sized jean jackets.

But that's not all; jeans are coming back in all new styles this season. The frayed or tasseled hem is a growing trend on and off the runway, and the ankle length is still heavily prevalent in on-campus fashion. 70s-inspired, wide-flare jeans are also starting to creep into classrooms. While it's a trend I haven't exactly gathered the courage to try out myself, I can definitely appreciate the diversion from the traditional skinny jean.

2. Minimalism and knitwear.

While knitwear will always be a fall/winter staple, this year, it's coming with a slightly different approach. Expect to see plenty of black and white on your walk to class (which, if you're anything like me, is cause for celebration). Knitwear has been embraced by the growing fixation with minimalism and has churned out plenty of crisp-looking ensembles featuring fitting trousers and cream cable knits. Paired with ankle boots and a black coat, it's the perfect everyday outfit that still looks super chic.

3. Off-the-shoulder/cold-shoulder.

The one trend that has surprised me the most for fall is by far the off-the-shoulder trend. While I loved rocking bare shoulders this summer, I expected the trend to remain a warm-weather winner. But boy was I wrong. Instead, the look has transformed from lightweight fabrics and breezy crop tops to fall-ready knitwear. These tops and sweater dresses are super fashionable as well as functional, and look great with skirts, jeans and leather jackets.

4. Plaid.

Probably one of campuses' most beloved fall trends, plaid is here to stay. Button-ups are all over classrooms and have started to transition to dresses, skirts, and coats. Personally, I can't wait for it to cool down enough for me to bring out my plaid coat. This trend is so unbelievably easy to work and wear, and is always a comfy layer to add into your wardrobe.

5. Embroidery.

To the girl in one of my classes this week: I promise I wasn't trying to be a creep for staring, I was just really amazed by your embroidered jean jacket.

Aside from my own issues with spotting awesome university ensembles, embroidery came out of nowhere it seems, but is certainly everywhere now. Patchwork additions to worn jeans, floral embroidery on dresses, tops and jackets -- this look works for almost every article of clothing. It's also an instant way to polish off any outfit, and give it just a little something extra.

So grab a latte, anything pumpkin flavored, and a sweater, because at least in the world of fashion, fall is most definitely here. Campus fashionistas have been killing it with these top five trends, and will continue to rock these styles all through the season. Any I missed? Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
