The week after the fourth always feels like the slowest week of the year. You are more than half-way through summer vacation, the heat is starting to get old, and you are starting to really miss your routine back at school. That's why this week I have decided to highlight 3 things, a film, a show, and a video game that I am excited about that release during the beginning of the school year to not only push me through these last sweet few weeks of summer but hopefully to help you do the same.
The Movie I'm Looking Forward to Most This Fall: Halloween (2018)
What can I say? I'm a sucker for slasher movies, and this one looks like the Halloween franchise might get back on its feet after all these years (and all those bad sequels). With the original 'scream queen' Jamie Lee Curtis returning as the iconic Laurie, ready for a showdown that will most likely go down in iconic slasher movie moment history. Personally, I'm picturing it being placed somewhere between Kevin Bacon getting an arrow through the neck in Friday the 13th, and the bone-chilling every-time-you-watch-it Drew Barrymore opening in Scream. After all, this battle is 40 years in the making!
The TV Show I'm Looking Forward to Most This Fall: American Horror Story Season 8
Although not exactly a new show, this anthology series does have wildly different narratives from season to season, which is why after 7 years, every new episode is still fresh. And with creator Ryan Murphy confirming that this season will be a crossover between AHS: Murder House and AHS: Coven, (my two favorite seasons and arguably the best ones out of the 7) I cannot wait to see what twists, turns, and thrills will be on our screens in a few months.
The Video Game I'm Looking Forward to Most This Fall: Fallout 76
The Fallout franchise is by far my favorite video game franchise out there, so I was shocked when Bethesda announced that after releasing Fallout 4 only 3 years ago, they are releasing a new game this fall. And perhaps the most exciting part for me is where the game fits in Fallout lore since this game takes place earliest in the Fallout timeline. This means that instead of exploring a war-torn and ravaged wasteland, players get to explore a relatively newer radioactive world, something I honestly didn't know I needed until now. Although I'm still a little iffy on the multiplayer aspect, as long as the single player option is given as much attention, then I have no doubts that this will be another fantastic installment in the franchise.
