So it is no secret that the Falcons did not win the Super Bowl. They had everything going for them: momentum, an all star team, and a 25-point lead in the third quarter, yet they still could not seal the deal. Everybody is out there saying, "I knew they would choke," or "Of course, it was the Falcons. What did you expect?" But those fans, they are not the true Falcons fans. They are the bandwaggoners who did not have a team in the Super Bowl so they decided to pick one. They are the ones who like to say they are a fan when things are great and wonderful, but once they turn sour, they go back to hating.
My friends, that is not a true fan. A true fan is somebody who sees how far they have come as a team. Who sees that they gave it their all out there on that field. That those boys made their friends, families, and an entire city proud to wear that crimson red and black everyday. Those boys made an entire city "Rise Up" and show everybody who Atlanta was. For so long, we have been known as the city who has good teams and chokes under pressure, but man, that was not the case this past season.
The last time I checked, only two teams were deemed the best among the entire 32. Only two teams had enough fight, strength, love, and willpower to make it to that final game. To make it to those last 60 minutes of field time. To make their hometowns proud.
Atlanta Falcons, you made everybody proud on February 5, 2017. You made history that will never be forgotten. Some will remember it as the time that the Patriots had a comeback, some will remember it as the time that the Falcons just could not do it, but some, they will remember it as the time that the Atlanta Falcons made it to the Super Bowl, gave it their all, and showed the whole country that they should not be overlooked or seen as the underdog. One day, the rest of the country will see what I see in every single one of our players and coaches and will Rise Up.
