10 Reasons I Have Enough Faith To Be My Own Hero.
CHRISTINE GORDON

Faith can take on light in many perspectives. You can be a person of faith, a seeker of faith, or someone who doesn't believe that there is faith. For me faith is more than just God, or giving my complete trust towards something. Faith is the foundation of who I am as a person, and helps me strive to who I want to become. I have faith in myself and how I can handle the world around me. Here are 10 reasons to why I have enough Faith to be my own hero.

1. I am the only one who can't leave.

At the end of the day no matter how hard the day was, what obstacle was thrown in my way I never leave myself. No matter what actions I decided to choose, I still am here for myself and will never give up and leave.

2. No matter how much I invest in myself it will never be for nothing.

When I put time and effort into myself it always pays off. Unlike when you put effort and time into someone else they are still always able to leave, and the months or years of investment are gone in an instant. With having effort in myself it only betters who I am as a person and is never a waste of time.

3. I can always pick myself up.

If life blows up and everything is going wrong I am really the only one that can snap myself out of it and help myself feel better. There are people that can help me smile, or laugh. But I'm the only one that can choose to change my mood.

4. I can rely on myself to always show up.

When something really important is happening I'm always sure that I will be there. Thought it is nice to have my favorite people at these big life events, I've found that when those people don't show up it sets me back no matter who it is. So I've learned that being my own number one fan helps me mentally when others are unable to show up for me.

5. I am my own hero in my own story.

I wear the cape in my own life. I am able to pick myself up when life sucks, cheer myself up. I never disagree with my own opinions. I'm self-reliant, so I don't have to count on others to pull their own weight. I breathe in my own strength to get the job done, and I breathe out progress.

6. No matter how many relationships fail, I still have faith in myself.

When you invest in others and then they leave you have this whole gap of effort lost. It sucks and is inconvenient and sets you back awhile because of how much you cared about this person. But because I'm my own hero, I am able to care enough about myself and my feelings to have enough faith to stand back up after bad breakups.

7. When life sucks, I know the little things that make it better.

People in your life may get to know you enough to see what you do to cheer yourself up. But the one person who really truly knows what makes the bad days better is yourself. I know that if xyz happens I cope with abc.

8. Self-defeating thoughts are beat with self-helping thoughts.

When I'm hard on myself with unrealistic expectations, I counter those hard thoughts with better ones. With every harsh thought I beat back with three good ones. It's a lot of work on days that are tough but I am still able to do them and they boost my mood in all directions.

9. I am able to lift others up more because I've already lifted myself up.

Being my own hero helps me to be able to help others more in my life. I am able to invest more mental effort into others when I have my own back when it fails. Some weeks may be harder to do this, but the next week I put more effort in to make up for it.

10. Self-positive thoughts lift me up.

My faith in life and myself is an advantage when it comes to thought processes throughout the day. By this type of mind set, I am better able to stay in a better mood most of the day compared to a self-defeating mindset.

These 10 reasons why I am my own hero aren't fail proof. There are days that I don't get out of bed, and I can't lift myself up. But with those bad days there are several good ones that make up for the bad ones.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
