When I think about the things I hold dear in my life, at the top of the list I find my family, relationships, education, and lifestyle pretty far up there. Although along with the important things in my life, I often find the worries that are out of my control taking up the most mental space in my head, shouting louder, practically screaming against every other priority and whim in my life. Quite honestly, this turmoil usually just leads into a flurry of worry and anxiety that never ends well.
Though, it hit me one night that out of all of the things in my day that pull for my attention, which one is on top? What name or thing in my life takes triage over all other? In my life right now, what is the name above all other names?
If I'm honest, I know what the answer should be. Although, at this moment in time I cannot confidently say that I am always thinking about my relationship with the Lord more than I think about my accounting homework, what image I am portraying to others, or that conversation I should have had. We all fall guilty to this and get so wrapped up in these foolish things that cause us to only put our eggs in one basket here on Earth rather than growing spiritually.
So I dare you to ask yourself that question and be honest, what is the name you place above all names?
Do you worry about your grades, your family, your relationship status? Write it down, pray about, and just give it over to the most high name.
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5.16-18
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8.38-39
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on Earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.
Matthew 6. 19-21
