As a Millenial that did not watch a single "Harry Potter" movie until very recently, I can finally understand what all of the hype was about. The movie series is more than just young witches and wizards learning how to use magic while struggling through growing up, but there are some quite interesting facts about the series. Some that could intrigue any Harry Potter lover.

1. Rowling and Harry Potter share birthdays.

Even though it is different years, they both celebrate on July 31st! There is actually a lot of similarities between her and the characters. Like Dumbledore and her Rowling like sherbert lemons.

2. The dementors reflected Rowling's struggle with depression shortly after her mother's passing.

Wait, really? Yeah. Her struggle with depression was INTENSE, but she pulled through it. She created some badass creatures from it too.

3. You can thank Rowling's boyfriend for Quidditch.

Everything awesome really does come from fighting with guys. Rowling had a fight with him, so she went to a pub and ba-da-boom, Quidditch. Kind of like, magic?

4. Moaning Myrtle is A LOT older than a typical student.

Moaning Myrtle was a 36-year-old being filmed as a 14-year-old. Seriously! Honestly, it makes this scene just a little more awkward, than we originally thought anyways, for Harry Potter.

5. There were some badass effects in play.

Yeah, the fire-breathing dragons were special effects. However, there were some interactive props, like the "Monster Book of Monsters" and the baby Mandrakes, that characters could actually have fun with on set.

6. Rowling almost killed off Ron.

She said that it was purely out of "spite." Seriously.

7. Michael Jackson wanted Harry Potter to be a musical.

Michael Jackson, himself, asked Rowling if she was interested in creating a musical of Harry Potter. She said no!

8. Rowling feared on a question, but no one really asked.

She did not want anyone to ask what Dumbledore's wand was made of because it was made of the Death tree since he was an elder. No joke.

9. Stephen King liked the least expected villain.

That's right! He thought Doroles Umbridge was a great villain.

10. Dumbledore was gay.

Rowling revealed that Dumbledore was gay and had a crush on Grindelwald.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
