Ehh, what up Doc? This iconic phrase has been said for almost a century by the one and only Bugs Bunny and is recognized by cartoon lovers from around the world. Who can forget about the trouble that he would cause Elmer Fudd or the love/hate relationship between his estranged best friend, Daffy Duck. However, the one thing that we all remember is the first basketball movie that included all the Looney Tunes that we knew and loved, as well as the greatest basketball player ever, Michael Jordan.
All 1990s babies must have heard about this movie. The movie itself was geared towards children but young and old alike fell in love with it. The plot of the movie is very simple and somewhat generic. The Looney Tunes have to prepare for a basketball game against an alien group that is trying to take them all as slaves and work on Moron Mountain. These aliens go to earth and steal the talent of highly touted basketball legends such as Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, and Mugsey Bouges. The only way for the Looney Tune Squad to win or have any chance is with the help of Michael Jordan. Watching the movie now, it is very to see that this movie wasn't really all that, but the notion that Michael Jordan would be in a movie with the likes of Bugs Bunny made it all more interesting. The movie is a classic and over the past 19 years has gained the cult movie label, which brings me to my next topic: "Space Jam 2."
Over the past three weeks, there has been a lot of talks about a sequel to the iconic "Space Jam" movie. If that wasn't enough, Warner Bros. signed on LeBron James for a contract with them, which only heightened the talks of a another "Space Jam" movie. Would another "Space Jam" movie be worth it though? I mean really what else can really be done with the movie that wasn't already done? I'm an avid fan of the original "Space Jam," but it would be really hard to see what else they can do with this movie.
Whether this movie happens or not, let us all continue to remember the original one and what it represented. A lot of people are skeptical about this sequel and the main reason people are skeptical is because it would star LeBron James. People are indifferent to him and a lot of others would love to just keep the movie a one part thing, but who knows; the Monstars will probably be back once again.
